Milestones
1935
Founded by Whitworth Ferguson Senior,
the company opened for business on August 1st.
1940's
The onset of World War II created one of the largest construction booms in the history of New York State. Ferguson Electric planned a significant role in the area’s continued growth by offering the very best in electrical
construction & engineering capabilities.
1956
The state of New York began building the Niagara Power Project.
Ferguson Electric was awarded the first large electrical construction contract.
1960's
In the early 60’s, we began work for the State University of New York at Buffalo, including SUNYUB’s Computer Center, power distribution,
libraries, & student unions.
1970's
Ferguson Electric began a heavy expansion into such urban renewal projects as the revitalization of downtown Niagara Falls, expanding our capabilities to include wastewater treatment plants.
Early 2000's
The workers voted to become 100% employee owned. After the loan burning party
in 2010, the company remains an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
2025
Ferguson Electric acquired Schuler-Haas,
expanding our footprint to include offices in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Corning, Ithaca, & Binghamton.
Present Day
The company continues to be at the forefront of industry technology & investment. Although the company has worked on renewables for over 60 years, the new Renewables Division
is now a top priority for the company and the industry's future.
